WordPress 5.0 Release Date Scheduled – Are You Ready?
December is going to be a big month for anyone with a WordPress website. Are you ready?
On December 6th, 2018, WordPress version 5.0 is slated to roll out – just days after many Americans will be coming back to work after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Site Editing Improvements Coming
WordPress 5.0 is no ordinary update. It will introduce a brand-new default drag-and-drop editor called Gutenberg, further improving the WordPress experience.
However, for sites built before December 6th, 2018 and therefore not originally developed to work with Gutenberg, upgrading to WordPress 5.0 can cause otherwise healthy websites to malfunction and become difficult to maintain.
Installing the Classic Editor plugin will keep pre-Gutenberg sites functioning as intended.
Preparing for the Inevitable
It’s tempting to think the easiest course of action is to do nothing or put off updating WordPress, but you should always use the latest version of WordPress otherwise your site will have security vulnerabilities.
Fear not, there is an easy solution. By installing and activating the Classic Editor plugin now, your website will maintain its existing editor while still being able to update to WordPress version 5.0.
